Greetings from Emmanuel Road, 31st July 2021, a note about my annual leave and the next jazz piano trio concert this coming Monday 2nd July
Greetings.
As in all previous weeks, I trust things remain as well as can be expected with you all.
Please note that as of Monday 2nd August I am away on annual leave until Wednesday 1st September. If you have any pastoral needs and/or questions about the church please be in touch with Andrew Bethune our church chairman via the contact page of this website.
For those interested in reading this week’s blog and/or listening to my podcast please follow the usual links at the very end of this post.
Also, may I remind you that the church now has a SLACK site to help us share together useful information, thoughts, ideas, photos etc.. Please be in touch if you want to join that.
Also to remind you that there is the second of three jazz piano trio concerts on Monday 2nd August at 7.30pmwhich will see me on double bass and George Double on drums joined by virtuoso pianist, Pete Letanka (https://www.peteletanka.com/). There are only five tickets left as I write . . .
As an ambassador for Ronnie Scott’s Club, The National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Junior Glyndebourne and The Royal Opera House, Pete’s charismatic and motivational work has been an inspiration for all who have had the pleasure to be a part of it. Do join us for an evening of impassioned swing, entertainment and great fun. Expect sounds of Oscar Peterson, Erroll Garner, with a dash of soulful ‘70s groove thrown in for good measure.
“Everyone who hears Pete Letanka for the first time is amazed” The Observer
We invite you to bring your own refreshments and glasses as we won’t be operating a bar. Please book in via the Ticket Source link below and do let us know if you have any particular seating requirements. We look forward to seeing you!

And, lastly, as always, if on reading this you decide you would like to join us for the Sunday morning service of mindful meditation and time of conversation following and do not have the necessary Zoom link then please either reply to this email or contact our Church Secretary, Brendan Boyle, via the contact page of our website. Just look through the dropdown tabs to find “Secretary”:

Please log in between 9.45 and 10am. The meditation starts at 10am sharp, and finishes at about 10.50. There will then be a short break to allow you to stretch your legs, compose your thoughts, or put the kettle on. The ‘Time for Conversation’ will start at about 11am, and if you aren’t taking part in the meditation, feel free to sign in during the break for the conversation.
To get the most from the meditation, you will find it helpful to either print out the order of service, or display it in a second window. Here is the link:

You might also wish to have a small candle or tea-light to hand to light at a certain point during the meditation.
A representative recorded version of the service is available for download via my podcast site here:

A homespun video introduction to the service can be found on YouTube at this link:

With love and best wishes as always and I look forward to seeing some of you this coming Sunday and then again in September.
