Greetings from the Cambridge Unitarian Church on Emmanuel Road, 23rd October 2021
Greetings to you all,
Just a reminder that we are now meeting on a Sunday morning at 10.30-11.40am in the church and live-streamed on Zoom with a time of conversation following. For the time being please bring and wear a mask whilst inside the church premises.
Full details of the new service can be found at the following link:
https://www.cambridgeunitarian.org/morning-service/
The Zoom link for this is the one we have been using throughout but, for ease of reference, I paste it here:

Please note there is now the opportunity for members of the congregation to offer a short, 5 minute reading or “thought for the day” (that’s around about 500 words) following the end of the service and before the time of conversation. Please be in touch with me if you’d like to do this and we can set a date and, should you wish, have a natter about how to go about it. To help guide you there are a number of examples on our new SLACK site under the “the-five-minute-thought-for-the-day” thread or under the “ministers-blog-podcast-conversations” thread.
To join the church’s SLACK site please be in touch with me directly.
Please also remember that we are looking for volunteers to play for us the two hymns and possibly to offer a short piece of music in the middle of the service.
Thank you to those who attended the very enjoyable and fruitful Evening Conversation on Wednesday 20th October. The next one will take place this Wednesday on 3rd November (7.15 for 7.30pm until 9.00pm). Here’s the ZOOM link which will remain the same through this whole series:

To help frame our current conversations we are looking at Richard Trudeau’s very short and succinct book “Universalism 101: An Introduction for Leaders of Unitarian Universalist Congregations”. As the sub-title reveals, Richard wrote it particularly for the North American situation but the general points he makes speak relevantly to us here in the UK. In the conversation itself, I will in any case be able to introduce you to the British and European elements of the story that don’t get explored by Trudeau.
This book is available for Kindle at only £2.69 <https://www.amazon.co.uk/Universalism-101-Introduction-Universalist-Congregations-ebook/dp/B01IK9DX7Y/ref=tmm_kin_title_sr?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=> and new physical copies can also be bought via the same link. Alas, second-hand copies seem only to be available from the USA. Anyway, I’d strongly encourage people to get their own copy but in the event you cannot obtain one before this Wednesday’s conversation please be in touch with me directly so I can give you temporary access to the text.
For those interested in reading my blog and/or listening to the associated podcast please follow the links below my signature here.
Lastly please remember that if you would like to speak with me during the week simply be in touch and we can arrange a suitable time to talk properly either by telephone, Zoom, at the church or on a walk around the greens of Cambridge.
With love and best wishes as always,
Andrew
