Message to all church members and attenders from the minister
Given that all the services at the Cambridge Unitarian Church are currently suspended until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic the minister, Andrew Brown, has written the following email to all the church members and attenders. If you would like to be added to the email list and get further updates then please contact the minister via the contacts tab at the top right of this page.
Message to all church members and attenders from the minister
Greetings to you all. I realise I do not need to rehearse with you either the seriousness of the current situation or the need for us to stay in touch with, and to be appropriately supportive of, each other. Throughout the next few weeks (and perhaps months), although meeting face-to-face is to be avoided except in emergencies, please feel free to call me on my mobile number (below) if you need:
1) Simply to talk
2) Help with arranging deliveries
3) Help picking-up shopping or medication
4) Help posting letters
5) Any urgent supplies
6) Help topping up electricity or gas
I might not be able to do all these things myself at certain points but I can try to find someone in our community who can. At my end I’ll try to do two things:
1) Ring round the whole of the UK based congregation (including a few other people who are not formal members but are closely connected with the church community through other channels) once every two weeks to check how people are, perhaps to have a general natter about matters and/or (but only should you want to) to have a conversation about things religious/philosophical. Please let me know if you DON’T want me to be calling — I will quite understand.
2) To send out to you all a couple of times a week a short email with a link to my blog on which I’ll try to post various things (short bits of writing, photographs, links, etc..) that I think may be of interest to you and even bring you some pleasure. I will avoid all unnecessary doom and gloom but I will try to address, creatively and as best as I can, some of the darker and difficult things going on around us. Let’s not forget that, as serious as this is, the situation will gift us new and, I hope better and more healthy ways forward than the ones we have recently been pursuing.
As you know, after the address on a Sunday morning I always give people the opportunity to respond with their own thoughts and criticisms so why not think about contributing to our community’s ongoing conversation by every now and then making a comment at the end of each blog post?
So, to set things rolling, here’s the link to the front page of my blog with the most recent posts visible. Click the link at the bottom right to scroll through to older posts or, look at the Archive or Tags links on the left, or use the search box at the top right to find other addresses, themes, etc.. Just call me by phone if you need a tutorial!

Lastly, I simply send you my love and best wishes and look forward to speaking with, or writing to you over the next few weeks. Let’s see how we get on.
Andrew
