Weekend greetings from Emmanuel Road, 5th September 2020
Greetings to you all once again. I hope you were able to have a reasonably good August and found some time to rest and relax in preparation for the coming autumn and winter.
Naturally, I look forward to seeing some of you on Sunday on Zoom for our time of mindful meditation and conversation. In connection with this I’d like to express my thanks to Joy, Stephen and Andrew for conducting this service whilst Susanna and I were away. Thank you!
If, on reading this, you decide you would like to join us and do not have the necessary Zoom link then please contact our Church Secretary, Brendan Boyle, via the contact page of our website. Just look through the dropdown tabs to find “Secretary”:

Please log in between 9.45 and 10am. The meditation starts at 10am sharp, and finishes about 10.50. There will then be a short break to allow you to stretch your legs, compose your thoughts, or put the kettle on. The ‘Time for Conversation’ will start about 11am, and if you aren’t taking part in the meditation, feel free to sign in during the break for the conversation.
To get the most from the meditation, you will find it helpful to either print out the order of service, or display it in a second window. Here is the link:

You might also wish to have a small candle or tea-light to hand to light at a certain point during the meditation.
If you can’t come to the live Zoom meditation, at the following link, you can download an mp3 of the service I made for you back at the beginning of lockdown. For your delectation I’ll be recording a new, higher fidelity one in the very near future:

For those interested in such things I paste below a link to an address called:

In connection with the weekly address and the likelihood that significant restrictions on meeting in person in our church buildings will continue for at least a good few months yet, it is worth noting that, from the beginning of October, the weekly address (or something like it) will be available in podcast form and, on Wednesday evenings — at least during Cambridge University term times — we will be restarting (on Zoom) our series of evening conversations that at least begin with the general themes contained in that week’s address. More details of this will follow in the next few weeks.
Penultimately, it’s worth knowing that the church committee is meeting by Zoom on Wednesday 16th September and, amongst other things, we’ll be exploring other ideas about how best to proceed between now and the spring. If you have any thoughts/ideas about this please be in touch with me or any member of the committee.
Lastly, just to note that I will continue to try and call/contact everyone directly by telephone/text/email every few weeks but please remember that if you want/need to talk with me all you need to do is let me know and we can arrange a time to speak and, if appropriate, to meet whilst wandering around Christ’s Pieces or a park/open space of your own choice.
With love and best wishes as always,
Andrew
