Notice about a short meeting after the morning service at 12:15 on Sunday 26th July to update the congregation on the current state of play regarding our plans for the buildings

The trustees and minister will update the congregation about the current state of play with our planning application and set out the possible ways we might move forward in light of that. As with earlier meetings, no decisions are to be taken at this meeting, as it is for information only. But we are now much closer to the point where some serious decisions need to be made, so it is important that over the summer period, members and attendees begin thinking deeply about what we are to do. We plan to hold another meeting in September that will more formally lay out and discuss our options.

A note asking for volunteers to help run the services during August whilst the minister is on annual leave

Jacqui writes: “Could you help to run our Sunday morning services over the summer? We are looking for volunteers to cover the five Sundays in August (when Andrew Brown will be on leave). Please use the following Google form to tell us which dates you are available to help, and which roles you are interested in:

We will be in touch soon with further information. If you have any queries or difficulties using the form, please contact Jacqui (jacquicarnall@googlemail.com).”

A couple of photographs from last weekend’s service and the Seiza session afterwards led by Miki Nakura-sensei

Last weekend we were pleased and honoured to welcome Miki Nakura-sensei, a priest in the Shinshū Ōtani-ha branch of Jōdo Shinshū Buddhism, and a teacher of Okada-style Seiza meditation (Quiet Sitting). Following coffee, Miki kindly introduced this practice to a few of us—a method which, not incidentally, was preferred by the Japanese Unitarian movement and is what we practise in our weekly online Kiitsu Kyōkai meetings. I took a few photographs on the day an post a couple of them here for your pleasure.
