Events

In addition to our two Sunday services, we organise other, occasional events throughout the year.

These include things such as the easy-going monthly bring and share lunches (first Sunday of the month after the morning service except for January), meetings to discuss various aspects of church life (most recently to explore our support of the Extinction Rebellion movement) and, every now and then, an evening Epicurean Gathering, possibly the world’s most relaxed philosophical conversation where good food, wine and company go hand in hand with a genuinely consoling philosophical position.

Fencing – MON (Church)
Jun 21 @ 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm

A dynamic, buzzing fencing club for children aged 6 – 18. Fun and friendly sessions after school across Cambridge and evening sessions for intermediates and beyond.

Fencing is fun, mentally taxing and physically demanding but it attracts all shapes and sizes – there is no standard athletic type that is successful at fencing. It appeals to those who are sporty and non-sporty and it can instil a great sense of accomplishment, develop flexibility, posture and strength.

We enthuse our fencers to adopt fencing as their lifetime sport and we help them achieve not only fencing skills and technique but refereeing, coaching and armoury qualifications if they are interested and wish to progress these. We also actively promote and encourage using fencing as a skill or volunteering objective in Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

We use the British Academy of Fencing syllabus and provide fencers with the opportunity to achieve the bronze, silver and gold performance awards in their first years of fencing. Our coaches are all qualified, experienced and registered with the British Fencing Association.
