Events

In addition to our two Sunday services, we organise other, occasional events throughout the year.

These include things such as the easy-going monthly bring and share lunches (first Sunday of the month after the morning service except for January), meetings to discuss various aspects of church life (most recently to explore our support of the Extinction Rebellion movement) and, every now and then, an evening Epicurean Gathering, possibly the world’s most relaxed philosophical conversation where good food, wine and company go hand in hand with a genuinely consoling philosophical position.

Cambridge Scottish Society & Dance Circle
Founded 1936
Group profile
Cambridge Scottish Society was founded in 1936. Its aims are to stimulate interest in Scottish traditions, life and culture, and to support worthy charities. The usual Scottish social events are held, and in addition, members’ evenings, garden parties, walking weekends and other outings and entertainments are arranged. Currently, a large part of the activity is centred on Scottish Country Dancing, every Thursday evening from September to June.
Thursday Dancing
Thursday evenings from 8 to 10pm at the Unitarian Church Hall, Victoria Street, Cambridge CB1 1JW. Most dances walked through.
Thursday evenings run from September until June. The programme usually consists of ten dances, of which two are Repertoire Dances (not walked through), and one is the Dance of the Month, repeated each week for a month. Dancing is generally to recorded music.
The 2019/2020 season will run from 5th September 2019 to 18th June 2020. There will be no dancing on 23rd April.
There will be Live Music on 24th October, 19th December, 19th March and 21st May.

Cambridge Larp Society

Cambridge Larp Society (CLS) is a University of Cambridge society which organises regular Live Action Role-Playing (larp) events. Larp is a type of role-play where participants physically portray their characters. There are many different kinds of larp, taking place in wide variety of settings, ranging from fantasy and sci-fi to modern day. To find out more about larp, visit our FAQ.

CLS runs a continuing game over the course of the year, meeting once or twice a week for socialising and adventuring together in a world unlike our own. We also run a number of other events, including one-shot larps, discussion groups, costume-making sessions, and socials. Participation is open to everyone, not just members of the university, and we welcome new members at any point in the year.
