Firstly, may I simply say thank you to those who so ably led and were involved in the running of our Sunday Morning Service of Mindful Meditation whilst I was away on leave, namely, Clare, Beverley, Patrice, Ben, Stephen Lawrence, Stephen Watson, Brendan and Andrew Bethune. It makes a great deal of difference to me to be able to go away and know things will run well and smoothly. Thank you to you all.
Secondly, a quick reminder that the last of the three jazz piano trio concerts in the church takes place this coming Monday, 6th September (Doors 7pm, Show 7.30pm). Our guest pianist is Andrea Vicari, the well-known composer and Artistic Director of the Dordogne Jazz Summer School <http://www.andreavicari.com/>. Expect some familiar favourites, some re-imagined standards from the Great American Songbook and some Vicari originals. As before, please bring your own refreshments and glasses. As I write on Saturday afternoon there are only eight tickets left which you can snap-up at this link: <https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/little-sunflower-jazz-club>
And, thirdly, please remember that if you would like to speak with me during the week simply reply to this email and we can arrange a suitable time to talk properly either by telephone, Zoom or on a socially distanced one-to-one walk/talk.
For those interested in reading this week’s blog and/or listening to the associated podcast please follow the usual links below my signature.
A reminder that the church now has a SLACK site to help us share together useful information, thoughts, ideas, photos etc.. I’ve just posted up a few pictures of the church garden that Sue Tombs and Susanna Brown have been carefully and lovingly tending over the summer and also a couple of pictures of the church set-up ready for live-streaming. Please consider joining, not only the default, “general” thread but the other threads which carry news about social action projects members of our community are involved with, mindful meditation, the garden, my blog and podcast and the Wednesday evening conversations. For more information please be in touch with me, the minister, Andrew Brown, either via my email below or via the contact page on this site.
And, lastly, as always, if on reading this you decide you would like to join us for the Sunday morning service of mindful meditation and time of conversation following and do not have the necessary Zoom link then please either reply to this email or contact our Church Secretary, Brendan Boyle, via the contact page of our website. Just look through the dropdown tabs to find “Secretary”:
From this Sunday on, those who wish can come and join us live and direct for the meditation in the church. We haven’t yet fully worked out how we will then organise the time of conversation afterwards so as to involve both those present in person and those attending on Zoom, but I’m sure we’ll figure something out as we proceed.
For those joining on Zoom please log in between 9.45 and 10am. The meditation starts at 10am sharp, and finishes at about 10.50. There will then be a short break to allow you to stretch your legs, compose your thoughts, or put the kettle on. The ‘Time for Conversation’ will start at about 11am, and if you aren’t taking part in the meditation, feel free to sign in during the break for the conversation.
To get the most from the meditation, you will find it helpful to either print out the order of service, or display it in a second window. Here is the link:

You might also wish to have a small candle or tea-light to hand to light at a certain point during the meditation.
A representative recorded version of the service is available for download via my podcast site here:
